Abington is a small community of about 13,000 people. The city lies 12 miles south of Boston and was first settled by European settlers in 1668.
During the nineteenth and early twentieth century was the manufacture of shoes and boots, the primary industry. Almost half of the shoes for the Union Army during the Civil War provided came from Abington factories. The city is also made for a working dairy farm from 1986 to the attention. Today the city is rooted inManufacturing and agriculture have given way to a primarily residential area with several small and medium-sized businesses flourishing within the limits of a quiet town.
There are several organizations that active citizen participation. Annual celebrations include a St. Patrick's Day Parade, and 4 To celebrate July.
Abington has a fine school system and in full-time fire and police. Other City facilities include:

The Abington Early Childhood Center is located near the center of town and serves students from kindergarten through second grade. There are three elementary schools, Center Elementary School near the Old Town, North Elementary School in North Abington Woodsdale Elementary School and near the Ames Nowell State Forest. These schools serve students from third through sixth classes. TheCharles M. Frolio Junior High School, located near the center of the city and serves seventh and eighth grade students. Abington High School is located just west of Highway 18, across the street from the Town Hall and Library. Abington teams are like the "Green Wave" known. The school's main competitor is Whitman-Hanson Regional High by which they play in the annual Thanksgiving Day football game.
Abington is located in southeastern Massachusetts, bordered to the north of Weymouth, Rockland isin the East, Whitman, Holbrook and Brocton in the south and the west and northwest. It is 4 miles east of Brocton, 19 miles south of Boston and 21 miles northeast of Plymouth.
The normal temperature in January is about 26 degrees C and in July, the normal temperature is about 71 degrees.

Transport and access:
Abington is inthe Greater Brockton between State Route 128 and Interstate 495, the inner and outer loop around Boston. State Route 3, 24 and 28 provide easy access to the airport in Boston and Providence, Rhode Iceland.

The Dial-A-Bat para-transit service for elderly and disabled people are available. Carey's Bus Lines, Inc., offers service to Boston from S Abington and North Abington.
There is no hospital inAbington. They have a Department of Public Health and two nursing homes, and a library.
