Hays Consolidated Independent School District

Hays Consolidated Independent School District (HCISD), headquartered in North Central Hays County, is one of the fastest growing school districts in the state of Texas. The district has been rapidly growing for the past five years, adding 1,000 students in 2007. Registration is currently 13,000 students expected to Hays, this high growth will continue over several years. Of the four school districts in Hays County, HCISD is the largest.

Hays CISD's motto "A place where ideas grow"is a reflection of the commitment of the community for outstanding educational and extracurricular programs provide for their students.

With a current total of seventeen universities, HCISD includes two high schools, four middle schools, nine elementary schools, one alternative high school, and a disciplinary campus. One-tenth of primary school due to open in fall 2008.

The student body is reflected within Hays a richly diverse population, in which 54%the students are Hispanic, 42% are white, and 4% are African American.

Within HCISD Featured are a renowned performing arts center and a dual-language magnet program at the elementary level. An advanced high-school robotics program and internationally recognized music program are the highlights of the services offered to students.

The teacher-mentoring program in Hays CISD serves as a model for the state. School-based clinics offer services for all studentsand their siblings.

Based on the theory that building positive personal property results in healthy, caring, responsibility, and students, as well as reducing high risk behavior, the district implemented Forty Developmental Assets Framework on a district basis.

Hays CISD has one of the lowest tax rates in the fast-growing areas in Central Texas. A tax decrease of $, 3167 was approved 2007-08, so that the tax rate at $ 1.4613 $ 100 per guest.

At TexasEducation Agency Academic Excellence Indicator System HCISD was rated as Academically Acceptable. Four schools in Hays CISD, Elm Grove Elementary, Fuentes Elementary, Negley Elementary School, primary school and Tobias was recognized rating from TEA.

Texas Monthly has named Hays High School to the list of High Performing Schools in December 2007.
